Brewed Monday Coffee’s Journey to the Source: Reflections on Cafexpo Honduras 2025

At Brewed Monday Coffee, we take pride in consistently delivering the highest quality coffee to our customers. To make that happen, we’re always investing in learning and building meaningful connections with coffee producers around the world. One of our most rewarding recent experiences was attending Cafexpo Honduras 2025, held from March 21st to 23rd at the Hotel Copantl Convention Center in San Pedro Sula. The event brought together coffee enthusiasts, industry professionals, and small farm cooperatives from all over the globe.

What is Cafexpo Honduras 2025?

Cafexpo Honduras is one of the most prestigious coffee industry events, drawing participants from around the world. This year, it took place in San Pedro Sula, the bustling industrial and coffee hub of Honduras. The venue, Hotel Copantl Convention Center, was packed with exhibitors, speakers, and coffee professionals, all sharing their knowledge and passion for the craft. There was no shortage of things to see, learn, or taste.

The event featured international competitions where talented baristas showed off their skills, TED-style talks from agricultural engineers and coffee experts, and exhibitions highlighting the latest equipment and sustainable farming practices. Attendees had the opportunity to sample a wide range of coffee profiles through tastings and cuppings, immersing themselves in the diversity of coffee from small farms and cooperatives worldwide.

Community Through Competition

One of the most memorable parts of Cafexpo Honduras was the spirit of competition that brought coffee lovers from different backgrounds together. The AeroPress Championship was a standout event, where baristas showcased their creativity and precision in brewing the perfect cup. The cupping sessions were another highlight, celebrating the art of tasting and fostering a sense of community among coffee enthusiasts and professionals alike. These events created a vibrant atmosphere of excitement and learning, uniting everyone with a shared passion for exceptional coffee.

Why We Attend Cafexpo

Attending expos like Cafexpo Honduras is crucial for Brewed Monday Coffee. These events offer invaluable opportunities to gain insights into the latest coffee innovations and stay updated on best practices in sustainable farming and roasting. This year, we were especially drawn to talks focused on soil health, advanced roasting techniques, and direct trade practices. Connecting with thought leaders and hands-on experts helps us continuously refine our processes to deliver an outstanding coffee experience to our customers.

Embracing Sustainability in Coffee Farming

Sustainability in coffee farming is a core focus at Cafexpo Honduras. We had the chance to learn from agricultural engineers who shared cutting-edge practices aimed at reducing the environmental impact of coffee production. Topics ranged from soil regeneration and organic fertilizers to integrated pest management. Implementing these insights helps us support farmers in maintaining land quality while also enhancing the unique flavor profiles of our beans. Sustainability is not just about protecting the environment—it’s about ensuring future generations of coffee farmers can thrive. At Brewed Monday Coffee, we’re committed to being a sustainable coffee supplier and doing our part to support the industry.

Roasting Techniques That Make a Difference

One of the expo's most exciting aspects was the live roasting demonstrations. We learned new techniques to enhance flavor extraction and ensure consistency during the roasting process. From precise temperature control to monitoring moisture levels in the beans, these skills are essential for delivering the rich, complex flavors our customers love. Incorporating these techniques into our roasting routines keeps our Sarasota coffee wholesale and Bradenton coffee wholesale partners satisfied with every batch. Not to mention the customers who show up at our storefronts or farmers market pop-ups!

The Importance of Direct Trade Practices

Direct trade is at the heart of everything we do at Brewed Monday Coffee. Building direct relationships with coffee farmers ensures transparency and gives us a deeper understanding of the entire journey from bean to cup. This approach not only helps us maintain consistent quality but also supports the livelihoods of the farmers we work with. At Cafexpo, we strengthened our commitment to direct trade by forming meaningful connections, like our collaboration with Ramón Reyes. These partnerships are key to maintaining the exceptional quality our customers expect, whether visiting our Anna Maria Island storefront or purchasing through our bulk coffee wholesale offerings.

A Key Connection: Ramón Reyes from Copán

One of our most significant takeaways and biggest values from the expo was meeting Ramón Reyes, a dedicated coffee farmer whose plantation is located near the Mayan ruins of Copán. Ramón’s dedication to his craft is evident through his meticulous attention to soil health and his commitment to sustainable practices. His family’s coffee farming legacy is deeply rooted in their community, and we’re thrilled to share his unique beans with our customers.

Our Upcoming Seasonal Release: Honduras Single Origin Coffee from Copán

We’re excited to announce that Ramón Reyes’ coffee from Copán will soon be available as part of our seasonal release. The Honduras Single Origin Coffee from Copán is a Medium Roast with a rich, balanced profile that truly reflects the region’s heritage. We can’t wait for you to try it. Not to mention the fact it has a pretty interesting story! It will have some pretty cool packaging too.
